Janice Paul grew up in Boston hearing the hard driving jazz rhythms of Dave McKenna and beautiful subtleties of Marion McPartland. She began studies on the piano as a child, but later changed to guitar. She returned to her study of piano after moving to Arizona. She has performed as a soloist, accompanist, and in ensembles throughout Arizona. Her style is her own blend of the hard drive of McCoy Tyner and the lyricism of Bill Evans. The core of her repertoire is the standards of Gershwin, Porter, Rogers, Kern and others from the “golden era” of American songwriting. Her creative, exciting style makes for great listening.
Janice Paul has been a Made in Clarkdale artist for more than 20 years . Along with her music, she has displayed her original jewelry and figurative sculpture at the show.
